History

The history of AUSA is a business success story. It all began with the dream of four friends, who founded the company in 1956 as a result of their love for engines, pursuing a shared ambition that has made the company what it is today, selling compact industrial vehicles in 90 countries across 5 continents with a network of 600 dealers.

1956

The birth of AUSA

The four friends, Maurici Perramon, Antoni Tachó, Guillem Tachó and Josep Vila, established an organisation called Automóviles Utilitarios Sociedad Anónima (AUSA) in order to launch their dream: the production of a microcar under the PTV brand, whose name came from the initials of its founders' surnames. They were mass produced and 1,100 units were sold up to 1961. Produced with 100% AUSA technology, the PTV brand became a symbol of quality and comfort.

1961

The business is reinvented

With a clear vision for the future, it was decided to reinvent the business and start to produce dumpers for the construction sector. AUSA popularised this vehicle and people started referring to these products with the generic name of "an ausa".

1967

The first all-terrain forklift in the world

Years later, the innovative spirit of the company led to a new milestone with the introduction of the first all-terrain forklift in the world, the CE 800, with a lifting capacity of 800 kg.

1969

The internationalisation process begins

With the clear aim of continuing to expand the business and avoid dependence on the Iberian market, the company took a step forwards and opened a subsidiary in Perpignan (France), which marked the beginning of the internationalisation of AUSA.

1977

Exporting to new continents

With the success of AUSA's vehicles in various countries, taking advantage of its geographical and cultural proximity, the company began to market its products in Africa and South America.

1988

Expanding in Europe

The process of internationalisation continued and AUSA opened a subsidiary in the UK, the country with the highest sales of dumpers in the world. During this decade, the company began to exhibit at the sector's most important trade fairs in Europe.

2000

New all-terrain forklifts

The company took innovation and design one step further, launching a new range of forklifts on the market with an innovative design, hydrostatic transmission and the impressive new feature of an ergonomic multifunction joystick.

2002

A subsidiary is opened in Germany

The sharp increase in sales and the excellent economic outlook resulted in a subsidiary being opened in Germany, in order to respond to the growth in Central and Eastern Europe.

2006

Production of the 100,000th unit

In the same year that AUSA celebrated its 50th anniversary, it also achieved the milestone of producing its 100,000th unit.

2008

Addition of a new product range

The industrial product range was completed with the launch of a series of compact telescopic handlers, with an innovative concept that set AUSA apart from the competition and offered unique qualities.

2015

Consolidation in the US

In response to significant sales potential in the US, a subsidiary was opened in California and a dealership and after-sales network was established.

2017

Record order

In 2017, an agreement was signed for the largest order of vehicles in the history of AUSA, with a contract to supply 500 dumper, forklift and telescopic handler units to the largest rental company in Europe.

2018-20

Three product ranges upgraded

Launch of new dumper, rough terrain forklift and telehandler models with an innovative design and equipped with advanced technological features, low-emission engines and new safety features.

2020

Partnership with JLG to manufacture telehandlers

Partnership with JLG, a leading global manufacturer of lift equipment, to manufacture telehandlers for its product range in the US.

2022
